Born on April 12, 1920 at Blue Rock in Yancey County, Clarence worked in the mining and construction fields domestically and internationally before retiring in 1981. He was also preceded in death by a sister: Enide McIntosh; and, brothers: Jack and Clay McIntosh. Claude Whitson, 73, of the Bowditch Community, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, May 23, 2008 at his home. Mr. Wilson had served several years as a Trustee of Mayland Community College, was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast and was a founding member of The Mount Mitchell Toy Run. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church of which he was a life-long member.
